چکیده

We focus on the question of self-organized scheduling of event detection in SANETs. This question is especially challenging in very dynamic environments. Recently, a number of self-organization methods have been published that focus on network-centric operation in such networks. Based on our previously developed RSN system, which is a light-weight programming scheme for SANETs, we study the feasibility of promoter / inhibitor based feedback for self-organized schedule management of rule executions. Early simulation results outline the feasibility of the approach.

Self-Organized Event Detection in Sensor Networks using Bio-inspired Promoters and Inhibitors

Sensor and Actor Networks (SANETs) represent a specific category of massively distributed systems in which coordination and control of the participating networked nodes is especially challenging. Recently, a number of self-organization methods have been published that focus on network-centric operation in such networks. Rule-based Sensor Network (RSN) is a programming approach that supports thi...

A Bio-Inspired Architecture for Division of Labour in SANETs

Division of labour is one of the possible strategies to efficiently exploit the resources of autonomous systems. It is also a phenomenon often observed in animal systems. We show an architecture that implements division of labour in Sensor/Actuator Networks. The way the nodes take their decisions is inspired by ants’ foraging behaviour. The preliminary results show that the architecture and the...

Benefits of Bio-inspired Technologies for Networked Embedded Systems: An Overview

The communication between networked embedded systems has become a major research domain in the communication networks area. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) and sensor/actuator networks (SANET) build of huge amounts of interacting nodes build the basis for this research. Issues such as mobility, network size, deployment density, and energy are the key factors for the development of new communicat...

Bio-inspired networking – the basis for efficient communication in sensor and actor networks

Recent approaches in the domain of bio-inspired networking enabled further scalability and efficiency in communication and coordination in massively distributed systems. Sensor and Actor Networks (SANETs) represent a specific class of such environments in which classical communication protocols often fail due to scalability problems. This presentation outlines biological communication technique...

The focus of this investigation is operation and control in sensor and a...
